what happens when you hold and drive yourself with unnecessary muscles engaged

This quote got me thinking about what happens to your human engineering when you hold and drive yourself with unnecessary muscles engaged:

“It may seem somewhat of a contradiction in terms that the ability of muscles to perform work is dependent on their ability to relax.”  Dr. Romanov

Feeling the joy of running elastically puts isolated muscle based exercises/rehabilitation into true perspective.  Certainly from a routine muscle recruitment pattern point of view and even more so from an engineering perspective.  POSE means using our knees as they have evolved to be used, something few runners do which is the reason so many get injured. Just taking your shoes off can certainly help if you don’t expect to do the volume you were doing. Progressing with volume without technique often leads to undesired longterm consequences. Just watching this video could help tremendously, even if you’ve been bare-footing or pose’ing for years. The detail Lee gets across and yet in such a simple way is masterfully useful for experienced runners or those lucky enough to be just starting their minimalist journey. Happy Running, Naeem
